Currently on vacation from teaching middle school English, I’m spending my summer traveling to the Azores (a string of nine islands owned by Portugal) to visit my fiancé. Fabio and I are finishing up the arduous task of applying for a K-1 Fiance visa-which involves us traveling to Paris, France this August. In September, I begin a new journey teaching high school freshman and sophomores, which I’m very excited about. Later on, you will probably see posts of classroom activity. Right now, I’m content with writing about my travels and other adventures. Last August, I challenged myself during National November Writing Month in writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. They product surprised me, being an exciting, half-written novel about ritual sacrifice, love, community, and courage in an ancient, pre-Roman-Scotland setting. I’m still figuring out how to fill some plot holes, get rid of those pesky plot bunnies, and see it transform into the shape I desire, but the process encourages and inspires me as a writer.
